6/10/2020 The Dwarves Must Die
A band that got kicked off Sub Pop for playing pranks (turns out their guitarist wasn't dead!) shouldn't be releasing albums so well constructed, should they? Album covers with naked/bloody women and midgets, half-hour-long albums and 15 minute shows, and a total aversion to telling the truth give a lower profile than you'd think if you only heard the music. It keeps the band a dirty little secret. If you want in and can stand the guy or girl behind the counter sizing you up for buying an album with such a filthy cover, is an excellent place to start. Producer - the man who gave everyone from to his winning slick and loud treatment - keeps the chaos clear as a bell and makes this the most accessible album yet. Luckily, the band is ready for 's cool touch with an inspired, biting set of tunes that put the pedal to the metal.
The Dwarves Must Die 1:23: 15 Songs, 30 Minutes Released: Sep 21, 2004 ℗ 2011 Sympathy for the Record Industry; Also Available in iTunes More By Dwarves See All. How To Win Friends and Influence People 1988 Blood, Guts & Pussy 1990 The Dwarves Invented Rock & Roll 2014 The Dwarves Are Young and Good Looking. But the Dwarves re-formed for 1997's The Dwarves Are Young and Good Looking, and Epitaph Records signed the band in time for 2000's The Dwarves Come Clean. Four years later, the band returned with The Dwarves Must Die, which included guests Dexter Holland from the Offspring, Nick Oliveri from Queens of the Stone Age, Nash Kato from Urge.
There are punk, garage, and metal sounds, of course, along with the catchy, over the top pop that was featured on 2000's and some hip-hop that's just plain fun. From, from, from, and the man who voiced the original Space Ghost -all show up as guests, but they're only pawns in ' deviant game.
Running at just over half an hour, is tight and doesn't wear out its welcome. As much as try to sabotage their own career with a 'stay away' attitude, their music keeps getting better and better.
If it wasn't for the blood and nudity, they'd be huge.
The Dwarves Must Die is the 2004 release by the American punk band the Dwarves. It is the band's first release on the Sympathy for the Record Industry label. There are several cameos, including Dexter Holland from The Offspring, Nash Kato from Urge Overkill, desert rock icon Nick Oliveri, Josh Freese from The Vandals, Spike from Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, gangster rapper San Quinn, DJ Marz, and even the original Space Ghost himself, Gary Owens.
The rather freeform departure from the standard thrash/punk/noise sound is obvious in this release, slightly more so than in previo.
